Our Journey to Wembley – Play-Off Final 2025

Saturday 24th May 2025 will be remembered as one of the great days in Sunderland AFC’s history — and we at JH Coaches were incredibly proud to play our part in it.

As the Black Cats marched to a dramatic 2–1 win over Sheffield United at Wembley, securing their long-awaited return to the Premier League, our team was behind the scenes delivering one of our biggest and most rewarding transport operations to date.

In partnership with ALS Fanzine, we provided seamless coach travel to and from the national stadium, helping hundreds of Sunderland fans make the journey to London to support their team on football’s biggest stage. From the early hours to the final whistle and beyond, the energy, passion and pride of the Red & White Army was truly something special — and we were honoured to be part of it.

We’d like to extend a huge thank you to every single operator, driver, office staff member, and all those working tirelessly behind the scenes to make the day a success. Your professionalism and teamwork made the entire operation run like clockwork.

A special mention goes to our trusted travel group partners — Coatham Coaches and Johnsons Coaches — whose support and collaboration were absolutely vital. It was a genuine team effort from start to finish.

And what a match it was — capped off by an unforgettable 95th-minute winner from Sunderland’s own Tommy Watson in his final game for the club. The eruption of noise from the Sunderland end was deafening. Wembley was painted red and white, and the passion of our supporters could be felt every step of the way home.

To the fans: you were unbelievable. Your pride, your voices, your colours — you made history. Thank you for trusting JH Coaches with your journey. It was our pleasure to get you there safely, comfortably, and in full voice.
